Inside the Artist Studio
Find out more about the mind behind the masterpiece
My work explores wildlife, trees, landscapes, people, and pet portraits using graphite, coloured pencil, and oil paint. The natural world has always grounded me, through growing, walking, swimming, and simply being outdoors.
What drives me is the feeling that we are not separate from nature, but part of it. That thread of connection runs through everything I make.
I work from photographs (always with permission), as well as from memory and imagination. I’m often drawn to the slightly unusual, the quiet quirks, and I try to let that come through more and more.
At its core, my work is about noticing, appreciating, and reconnecting.
“There are a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the Earth”
- Rumi
I came to art later than most. I studied at Bath Spa University and graduated with a degree in Creative Arts in 2013, but truthfully, it was my husband who first taught me how to draw.
Being an artist feels like a third life, and one I’m here to stay in.
I work from my gallery studio (a converted cow shed) in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. It’s a place shared with wildlife, passing walkers, fellow artists, and the occasional curious visitor.
It can be bitterly cold in winter, but with thermal layers and stubbornness, I’ve stayed for over a decade. In summer, it’s something else entirely.
